This exercise is excellent to strengthen the back extensors, glutes, and the mid back muscles. Most daily activities require us to hunch and bend forward, and over time, our back muscles get weaker and our spine slowly adapts this posture and will slowly round forward (think forward head posture). The swimming exercise is one of the best exercises to prevent this from happening.
